Reflection
This eP has helped me identify my progress through my college career into a real world career, and gathering this info into one collective piece builds a specific stature that I have created over my years of learning my material for my future endeavors. What I enjoy the most about the eP is the course projects, these projects weren't always the most fun aspects of school, but when you complete them and get that satisfaction of doing the work your way or the hard way, its a grand feeling. The use of the course projects page is both useful and necessary in the sense that you can easily access your best works as well as any future employers.
There weren't many challenges while creating this eP, other than figuring out what kind of projects I want to use to present to the world. Another (less important) aspect that was actually quite difficult was designing the website itself. Now I wouldn't consider myself the most tech savvy person, but I'm not at all new to this kind of technology, so while trying to make an approachable design for this eP, I just decided a minimalist approach would greatly benefit me. On that note, I would like to give any future eP creators some advice on the matter. This would include DO NOT overthink it, meaning don't think your work you create in college as less than, any design you choose is strictly personal opinion and granted, not everyone in the world is going to appreciate it, so don't stress over that fact. Another thing I might add is, you should maybe not add your phone number to the website. I was getting spam calls left and right and since removing it, the spam calls have gone down (thank you Verizon).
The most interesting component of the course, Nonverbal Communication, was in fact the content itself. The type of content you can learn in this class can prove useful in many real world scenarios. The content you learn doesn't always need to be applied, it just needs to be known. Things like nonverbal cues can tell you more about people in conversations, and allow you to detect things like deceptive people more often. This information also allows you to look more inward. For example, you might begin to ask yourself, "Is my face telling the story?" While doing the course projects for this class such as the Short Film Analysis and the Popular Press Analysis, you gain even more information from outside sources and how the information you learn in this class can be applied and observed in the real world. In my PPA, I talked about the effect the COVID-19 Pandemic had on people from a communicative standpoint. Communication, whether it be verbal or nonverbal is one of the most important aspects of human life. The info you learn from doing these projects, really opens your eyes into what the importance of this information is.
This course can benefit me in my career just as much as it can benefit me in everyday life, and I think it would be wise to apply this information as such. For example, its no secret that the music industry can be dirty, and full of deception from greedy corporations. A good understanding of nonverbal communication can go along way in identifying trustworthy employers, coworkers and clients. My future and hoped career will be full of human interactions. Day in and day out I would be working with clients and higher ups to get my work done, and with a good basis of nonverbal communication, I have the ability to communicate further than just words.
